Customer Review: Great bang for your buck

I was a little hesitant to buy these because of the complaints about the cord length, but I thought these looked so much nicer (gotta love that chrome) than the MDR-EX51's which are supposed to have the same specs but with the normal length cord. I just went ahead and bought these anyways and I am very happy with them.
The Cord
-The cord length is different than any other phones. I happen to like the option of differnt lengths. Without the extension, the phones work great with a remote, or if you want to use a neck strap or armband. The extension is a little long, but the instructions tell you how to safely wrap the cord around the capsule case to create the desired length. Works great. For me, I was lucky. I bought these phones with the Sony NW-E99 mp3 player and the player came with an extra extension cord except it's only about 1.5 feet long (instead of 3 feet). This was the perfect length and works so well with the EX71's.
-Some people don't like the uneven length of the cord leading up to the left and right buds. I prefer this style, but I have been using Sony products for many years and am used to it. It allows you to wrap the cord around the back of your neck. This way you don't always have to keep the cord in front of you where it can get caught on things. If you want to remove the buds from your ear, they rest on your shoulders. I love this feature.
-Some people have also complained that the connector with the extension cord weighs down the phones (meanwhile they carry around a bulky ipod with it). When I got these I expected it to be pretty hefty. The connector is tiny. I don't even notice it. However, if I were to use these phones for running, then I could see how this added connection might get annoying. In that case, I would just use an armband and not use the extension anyway. But I fail to see how some people claim the weight pulls the left ear bud out of their ear. This should not happen especially if you chose the right size bud.
Fit and Comfort
-The sound isolation is great. When I wear these, I am really immersed in the music. These come with different size buds to fit your ear canal (small, med., or large). Getting a good fit is key to enjoying great sound, so take the time to try out different sizes. Once fitted with the correct size, these phones are extremely comfortable. I hardly notice they are there.
Quality
-The sound quality of these phones is good, for the price. As stated in many reviews already, don't expect amazing, blow-your-mind sound quality. But at this price, who cares? They are great for everyday use and provide a full bass friendly sound.
-As for durability, I have not had any problems yet. They aren't made of stone, but they won't break if you look at them wrong either. Just take care of them. Use the supplied capsule case to protect the buds when you're not using them. That's what it came for. Also, don't yank them out of your ears either. Since they sit deeper in your ear than most phones, like ear plugs, yanking them out by the cords will put stress on the wires, and eventually they will break. The phones look like they were designed to be removed by holding the little piece below the chrome inserts, not by pulling on the wires. Just treat them well and they will last.
What's with the silver case?
-My pair came with a plastic silver box case along with the black capsule case. I am not sure how to properly use it. The capsule case will fit inside the silver case, but then you just have to stuff the wires in as well. There is no winding mechanism or anything. I just don't use it, but it would have been nice if it were more functional.
Conclusion.
If the cord is going to bother you that much, then don't get these. But as stated in this review, there are multiple purposes solutions to make these work for you.
I am happy with these earphones and recommend them for everyone. They offer the best bang for your buck.

In-Ear Design
