I bought the Sony MDR-IF 240RK Wireless headphones for my mother the week she had to move into a longterm care center with a fussy roommate. She uses the headphones all the time - for her privacy as well as to not bother her new roommate. She LOVES them and they have aided her in her transition. I don't know what we would have done without them.
She has them set up right next to her bed so they recharge when she isn't wearing them. Very easy for her to use. We added the Sony PC-234s plug adapter. It is the perfect system for her tight living quarters.

I read a lot of other reviews giving problems with these headphones. 1. Remember they are Infrared, it's not going to transmit through walls(although there is no interference from other radio signals) 2. If you set up the levels right, it doesn't have the back ground hiss others complained about. The RCA jacks are made for the out put of headphonne jacks, so anyone using it as an input from their stereo would find it gives you noise. **Just follow the directions on how to set it up and they work beautifully. I bought these headphones for my boyfriend for Christmas because we work different shifts and he stays up later watching tv. We have a 55" tv and there's no way to watch it quietly...until the Sony headphones came along. He says now he hears things that you can't hear without the headphones. He even wears them when I'm awake, he loves them that much. He's going to buy a 2nd pair for me, because he says I need to hear the difference when watching movies. I bought these for my husband who loves to watch t.v. late into the night. My children and I were constantly begging him to turn the volume down. I have used these also to watch television while having several children running around my house. I love them. It's amazing what sounds you hear through the headphones that you don't hear through the television speakers. I think it's the coolest present for any man or woman who enjoys watching television. Just one complaint, when you turn on the volume on the headset you hear a whisper. But ideally you buy this headset so that you wife/husband can sleep next to you therefore there is total silence in the room. That means you never need to turn the volume so much...
I loved this product and I am happy I did not go for a more expensive one. This one is just perfect.
I had doubts at the time of purcashe because it was so cheap. But now I am satisfied and assured that expensive is not always better.
