Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony MDR-IF240RK Wireless Headphone SystemCustomer Review: Really good headphones Summary: 5 Stars
The sound quality is great! We had tried a couple of others, but this one sounds terrific.
Since it's infrared, people walking between you and the TV will momentarily kill the sound, also you can't walk around the house: once line-of-sight is broken the sound goes away. But not big problems.
The earpieces have foam cushions on them. They are prone to fall off. When putting on and taking off the headset, you have to pull them straight out (to the left/right), then lift them off your head. If you just grab them and lift, there's enough friction between the earpiece and your ears to pull the cushions off.
The manual claims a full charge will last 30+ hours. Haven't really measured it, but a charge lasts a very long time.
All in all, though, a great headphone.

I ordered these so as not to interrupt my son while he's grinding out tunes on guitar hero buy shouting "turn that darn thing down", that being said the plan worked beautifully and I cant even tell he's playing Hero or any game . Im thinkin i'll get another pair for when his friend comes over to play.
I found another use though . Im an early riser and like to watch news and market reports at 5:30 am so I strap em on and don't wake the wife.
The sound is better than plain TV. I plug them into my home theatre amplifier so you should question how you're going to set them up before buying.
There is fabric that goes over the earpiece that can be knocked off so they should have inserted spares.
They are inexpensive, sound good , and keep peace and quiet in the house, what else you want?

Sony MDR-IF240RK Wireless Headphone System
My mom, 94, had extreme difficulty clearly understanding the voices on the television. She has moderate to severe hearing loss (higher ranges). She could hear snipits of words, and would guess as to the actual message. I read about TV Ears and found both negative and positive comments. One writer dumped TV Ears for the Sony product mentioned. Bought the Sony MDR -IF240 and tried it at home, before taking it to Mom. Then installed it at her home. They work great, very easy to use, comfortable, and most importantly, she hears everything very clearly. They work better than hearing aids because the sound is directed straight into the ears. A winner.
Customer Review: Good quality + value Summary: 5 Stars
Bought the MDR-IF240RK to replace a 900 MHz Sony model which finally broke after years of use. As with the majority of Sony products I've purchased, the MDR-IF240RK is consistent with Sony's (usually) high standard of quality. Even though the new headphones were less expensive than the 900 MHz model, the sound quality is actually better. Unlike what other users have complained about, I experience no hiss or static - sound is crystal clear. The 900 MHz model in comparison was more prone to hiss/static and required adjustment from time to time when the frequency wasn't quite dialed in.
The phones are connected to a Sony microdisplay TV through the set's audio line out jack. With the speakers turned off through the onscreen audio menu and audio out set at Fixed, the headphones work flawlessly.
Customer Review: Wow, better than expected Summary: 5 Stars
My grandfather is 88 years old and can barely hear anything. When he watches tv, he has the volume up soooo loud that it drives my grandma crazy. Plus he has the closed caption on. These headphones solved both problems. They are very impressive and crystal clear for tv listening. Very very simple setup and excellent battery life. My grandpa just leaves them on all the time and just charges them about every 3 days. As long as the base is pointing at him when hes watching tv in his power chair, he can hear the tv as loud as he wants since it has a volume control right on the headset. plus my grandma can turn the volume down as low as she wants on the tv and not affect his volume on the headset. I recommend this product to anyone with older family members that can't hear the tv!
