Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony MDR-IF240RK Wireless Headphone SystemCustomer Review: Great little wireless headphones Summary: 5 Stars
Where I work we are not allowed to use RF based wireless devices so these Infrared based headphones were just the ticket. I've been using these for almost a year and they are in use most of the workday. The sound is nice and true and the signal doesn't go out of my cubicle. I can hear things going around me which is important for the telephone, fire alarms, etc. unlike over the ear cup style headphones. Also my ears do not get hot like when using a larger cup style phones. All in all, a quality product (it's a Sony no less) and works great. I'm not an audiophile by no means but I like to listen to music while working and these do a great job of that, with no discernable distortion. I like them so well I'm going to get more sets for home use and my wife wants a pair for her workspace.
Customer Review: Super headset Summary: 5 Stars
Purchased this item for my wife who is havng some hearing difficulties. What is sufficient volume for her is too much for everyone else. This unit works great. The sound quality is excellent, and the headset unit was easy to install. Delighted with the purchase. The only negative comment that I have is that the volume control on the headset is very small and can be difficult to locate without removing the headset from your head in order to find it. Perhaps it takes some getting used to. My wife thought that she might have preferred "in the ear" phones, but I think this headset as is, is more comfortable and provides better sound quality. Only have had it for a very short period of time and have nothing else to compare it with, but personally I am satisfied with the purchase.
Customer Review: Sony MDR-IF 240RK Summary: 5 Stars
Looking for an aid in watching TV, Spouse has hearing problem and needed higher audio levels that were uncomfortable for me.Read reviews, did some homework and settled on the Sony MDR 240. After 2 months we are very pleased with the product. Easy set up( under 10 minutes), excellent clarity and volumn control. We sit 9 to 11 feet from the TV, well within the published range and get super reception. With the IF system there is no interference issues from other wireless devices. The IF system sends out a cone shaped signal so you can do some limited walking in the same room with no audio interruption. Since you need line of sight,if you leave the room you loose the signal - no big deal since it works great for what we intended.Works so well we bought a second unit for the bedroom.
Customer Review: Perfect for computer usage Summary: 5 Stars
I used to use radio based wireless headphones and all of them suffered from static, and most were uncomfortable after an hour of wear.
I've had these MDR-IF240R headphones for over 3 months now and am throughly please with them. The sound quality is crystal clear in the exact same environment that used to produce terrible static on all other wireless headphones. The headphones themselves are very light, only begin to become uncomfortable after several hours of use and easily stretch to fit my larger than average head. The battery life has been very good, a single charge has lasted 14+ hours. Also in case anyone cares, when I use these headphones I'm at work, 3 feet away from the base and my office is filled with computers and related equipment.
Customer Review: revision of my original review Summary: 5 Stars
When I originally purchased this item I gave it a somewhat lukewarm review because I was used to a non infra-red headphone that I could listen to around corners and in other rooms. (I even got a plaintive message from the company saying that these kind of reviews really hurt them.) After having these headphones for a while, I take back anything negative that I said. These headphones are great! The fact that you cannot hear when transmitter is not in direct line-of-sight is hardly any disadvantage at all. They are truly durable, never run out of juice, comfortable, and sound great. Sorry now about my original review. (Only excuse was that the window for writing the review was too small to express any qualifications.) E.T. Trigg
