Customer Review: Great pair of headphones for the price!

I use these headphones at work. When I put them on, and then turned on the noise cancelling feature, I was amazed! I was amazed at the sound of the HAVC and computer disk drives and ALL the ambient noise that was cancelled! Then the music sounded GREAT at LOW levels, so I could still hear my phone ring and when the boss asked me a question, I could still answer him. In fact, it was my boss who authorized the purchase of these headphones as I told him I needed something to cancell out his phones calls!
I absolutely LOVE these headphones! A great product for the money! Did I also say that for me, these headphones are extremely comfortable? Well, they are! So comfortable that I could fly alseep with them on! I carry them with me in the carrying case provided. I have used these at home to gently fall asleep listening to smooth jazz on my SONY MD Walkman model MZ-NH600D, another GREAT product.

This has to be the best pair of headphones I've ever purchased - either online or at a store. Before I came here to Amazon, I bought a pair of headphones to replace my old Radio Shack 35mm titaniam headphones (A great pair-no longer manufactured). I had to return the 'new' Radio Shack headphones, because they were just bad...real bad. I was looking at Bose (I have a WAVE radio -love it..) but at 300.00 I couldn't fork out that much money for headphones. This was a good alternative - I'm not really using the noise cancelling, I care less about that. I care most for the sound and reproduction - I'm listening to Radio Paradise on 'em right now, Love the sweet sounds of Nickel Creek with the 'power' on - That's why this was the best $40 and not $300 for Bose ---sorry Bose, still love you. For years I went with the Sony experience, as found the quality sufficiently high, and of course Sony prices unreasonably escalated. I have grown tired of Sony's proprietary items, having found they do not work well with generic electronics and accessories or other companies' softwares. After my last vaio computer with them two years ago, I have made a definite shift away. They simply are not producing that good enough product anymore. As fate would have it, I lost my best headphones and went to Radio Shack to test their supply. To my ears, the Sony ones listed here (MDR-NC6) sounded best at my price point, and I enjoyed them so much I got onto Amazon and bought a second pair just to have them around in the event the first get lost. By the way, I found Amazon's price muchg lower than Radio Shack's on these. This is the only Sony product I will recommend.Customer Review: Can't live without em!

I bought set at Target in 2005.But unfortunately the left channel went dead recently.Warranty expired.Sony in Tejas wanted $33.00 to restore.Decided no. Bought a pair of Panasonic noise cancel through mail.And didn't like em. Didn't even fit on my fat head and gave them to relative.
Don't want any phones now except NC6. Even if I have to buy a new set every few years. But they are not for action and not for travel either.They take up space in bag and are fragile.No excercise either.Ergometer? Forget it! Walking/jogging no way! Picks up wind pockets and sounds like a hurricane while outside.No water or perspiration,Plugs for jogging/walking/biking.
NC6 is for at home.The midrange and high end.It's authentic bass, not for phoney rapp bass garbage.A real jazz/classical enthusiast will appreciate.

I've been obsessively researching headphones for the last 6 months and have read that ear-canal earplugs can quickly ruin your ears and that music experts frown on the "closed" and noise canceling features as they compromise the brightness of sound. I concluded that I would stay away from those phones and thought I would have to spend at a minimum 100 dollars for the Sony MDR 7506 headphones, but then a student came to my class with the MDR-NC6, I asked if I could try them and he played his iPod. I was amazed. Far greater sound than other headphones I own (in the 50-dollar range). For me these headphones delivered the "wow factor," the feeling the music is really taking me for a magic carpet ride. My quest for a 100-dollar or more phone has ended as I am more than happy with the 35-dollar (on Amazon) MDR-NC6.
