Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony MDR-Q68LW Clip-on Style Headphone with Retractable CordCustomer Review: Just what I was looking for. Summary: 4 Stars
Being the proud owner of an ipod shuffle I was in the market for a good pair of headphones after destroying my earbuds in a bike "accident."
I am not a big fan of the earbud type of headphones as I feel they are a bit detrimental to your hearing. I had a pair of clip-ons before but I would get fristrated with them as the cords were constantly getting tangled. In addition I wanted something with a shorter cord as I have no need for three feet of wire if the ipod is going to be around my waste. So I did some searching and voilà, just what I need.
The retractable cord works like a charm. I really like how it goes all the way in which makes for neat storage. The earphones how pretty decent quality if you ask me and are confortable enough. My only complaint is that it seems like the fabric that is next to your ear is kind of...cheap? Not sure if that is the right word, but I worry about how long it will last before it rips.
All in all, a good headphone. I would definately recommend them to a friend.
Customer Review: Great idea, Satisfactory execution Summary: 4 Stars
These headphone are a great idea! And they work good enough for me/for the price. I dance with flow props, and I bought them so that I could clip an iPod shuffle to my hair and move with minimal interference from cords.
And they work alright, however the clips are not incredibly sturdy, with a lot of movement they will fall off your ears. The sound quality is OK, nothing great but nothing to complain about.
All in all, this is a pretty good product. If you are just using it for fun/jogging/dance practice etc they are sufficient. If you really care about the sound quality, I these are not for you.*
*If you don't care about them being retractable, Phillips has an amazing pair of clip ons which I love and use when I don't need as much freedom to move. They have great sound quality and last forever, I had to duct tape a piece of the decoration that did not affect sound quality but I think these head phones have been with me about 4 years and still work the same as when I bought them.
Customer Review: No more knots or snags! Summary: 4 Stars
These headphones are pretty nice. Push the button on the side for the cords to retract into the earpieces. The cord on the left piece connects the headphones to your player and the cord on the right piece connects to the left piece. With this kind of set up I can control the length of the cord behind my head and get the right length to reach my iPod. With a shorter cord, I couldn't keep the player in my pants pocket while listening to it. With a much too long cord, it would get tangled in my bag and snag on my bike handles. The cords on this model make a clicking sound when being lengthened and have yellow bands near the end of their extents to keep you from over extending them.
I love that they sit outside my ears since the bud styles hurt my ears and tend to fall out while exercising. It may take some adjusting to get them in the right position as the clips are spring loaded and can put an uncomfortable amount of pressure on the ears if not positioned well.
Customer Review: Perfect with only one exception... Summary: 4 Stars
I bought these headphones about a year ago and I also had the previous version of these headphones.
Well, first of all if you're not specifically looking for clip-on retractable headphones which there are few on the market then don't complain about insignificant stuff. I, as well as most people probably purchased them because they are CLIP-ON/RETRACTABLE/COMPACT, not for sound quality, although they do sound great for me. These are slimmer than the last version and are comfortable without having to stick something in your ear(I hate that).
Anyway, these are great and the only issue I have found of using these over a year is that the rubber on the clips begin to peel off. The rubber on mine hasn't fallen off completely but it will soon, so that's why I bought another pair because I love then still.
Customer Review: Fine sound quality, comfortable, but retracting mechanism has worn out. Summary: 4 Stars
I've had these earphones for about half a year. The sound quality is great, nothing jaw dropping though. they're also real comfortable, no complains there. The retracting mechanism, however, has worn out completely. I opened mine up when I noticed that the cord wasn't locking into place right away, that it was slipping, and I noticed that the gear used to lock the cord into place is made of plastic, and the teeth have since worn down to the point where it doesn't catch at all anymore, so I had to tie a little knot at the base of the headphone so that it wouldn't constantly retract. Maybe I was too rough with it, I dunno, but half of the appeal of this product has vanished, and I think the problem could have easily been remedied by using a metal gear that wouldn't wear down over time.
