Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony MDRG58V Street Style Headphone with Volume ControlCustomer Review: Excellent For The Price Summary: 5 Stars
I honestly have no idea what other people are complaining about--none at all. Some of these reviews are old, so maybe changes have been made to these since I got them almost two years ago...? The picture and description indicate these are the exact same ones I have, though.
For about $21 (when I got them at the store), these are the best headphones I've ever had, easily (and I've had some that have cost $40-$60). They do NOT hurt my ears (and I don't think my head is any bigger or smaller than anyone else's)...and over the years, I've had tons of different headphones and earphones, including others from Sony. The only over-the-ear headphones I remember hurting my ears were another pair from Sony that had harder material for the over-the-ear pieces, not this kind. For me, most earphones hurt at some point. With these, I don't ever really even feel the over-the-ear pieces. I don't see how these can hurt--they are incredibly stretchy, which should make for a one-size-fits all fit. The sound doesn't hurt my ears because it's so full with ample clarity and just-right bass. I also don't really deal with slippage--there is never a time when I'm not feeling comfortable with these or can't hear music the way I want to because the phones are slipping.
The second best headphones I've ever had probably came from Panasonic for less money. But even with those as a good second choice, I will continue buying this release for as long as I can find it. The sound is just superb for the cost of these headphones, and I say this as someone who wants very good sound quality. I feel like a stereo is playing right in my ears, and I can hear every single sound in the instruments and the voices clearly. I have used these from everything from just relaxing to mixing/editing and music production. These phones are simply irreplaceable. Look at my reviews on some of the other phones I've tried and see my complaints about their sound; I just don't think there's any replacing these, even for more convenient earphones. As I mentioned, I've had these almost two years, and they still work just fine--I love the durability of this product (the reason I discovered it in the first place was those Panasonic ones I mentioned shattered into pieces from combination overuse/traveling with them in my bag/its flimsy material).
If I had to complain about anything with these, it would just be the simple fact that you can't lay back with neckbands because the neckband part is in the way--this is partially why I say earphones are more convenient. The other part is they also just take up more space when you're on the go, and that's the other positive about earphones. But if I have to make a choice between excellent sound quality at the price and those things, I will gladly take these every single time.
