Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony MDRQ22LP Ear Clip

Customer Review: Look Good, Fit Good, Sound Good
Summary: 5 Stars

Earbuds are totally uncomfortable for me, especially since I wear my headphones hours at a time at work. Sony's earhook headphones are the perfect solution - they sit outside the ear but don't have a clumsy plastic bar going across or behind your head. You can switch the caps from metallic blue to silver (Sony also has a pair available from Amazon with a white cord and white or green caps to match the white iPods) and in 2 years I've never had a cap fall off.

Personally, I find the fit comfortably snug, not too tight, not so far from your ear you lose sound. But ultimately fit will vary from person to person, ear to ear.

The sound itself is good quality - surprisingly so for non-noise cancelling headphones - and amazing for the price!

I like the right connected to the left headphone design, making it so the wire hangs behind your neck instead of in a v across your chest. I find this design keeps the wires out of the way while I'm working, (just situate the wire behind your arm/shoulder instead of in front). This is true whether you keep the player in a pocket, or clipped to your collar like I do. It sounds like runners may have a problem with this design though ...

One draw back is the long cord - I have to untangle it everytime I put it on. It would be great if Sony could put out a version with a reel to pick up the slack. But still, it's the best practical alternative I've found to earbuds.

Customer Review: Perfect for an Ipod and they last for years!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had a pair of these for years. I was astonished and delighted to find that they still made them. The drivers are smaller than the ones in the old over the head headphones but much larger than the ear phones. What that means (and why I originally bought them) is that they don't distort like ear phone but they are louder (because they take less power to drive) than typical earphones. I have abused these things for a very very long time and came looking to replace them because the foam is torn out from use... not because they have gone bad... not because the speakers are bad but because I've used them until they have become unusable. How long has it been since you could say that about anything you have purchased in the last 10 years? I originally used them for the typical reasons mp3 or CD players but 4 years ago my girlfriend (now wife) moved in and we have our computers very close together so in the past 4 years they have been getting A LOT of use. In that 4 years she has gone through countless pairs of head phones due to being cheap, poor quality and not being able to take the abuse. I on the other hand have been making due with my OLD Sony clip on ear phones and just decided to hit up the old amazon because the foam being deteriorated was simply annoying me. When I saw them still available I had to order a pair and leave a review. Enjoy!!!

Customer Review: Best headphones I've ever had
Summary: 5 Stars

I love these headphones and have now bought them three times. The first time I used them everyday without fail and they lasted about 3 years, which in my opinion is really good. What finally gave out was the padding around the actual earpiece, which tore. They still worked after that, but they weren't as comfortable, so I thought it was time for a new one. I bought my second pair over a year ago and they are still in great shape. I haven't even started the last pair yet, but bought them just in case they decide to stop making this style.

I've tried a lot of different headphones (over the head, in ear, buds, and other clip-ons), but these have been the best by far. While I generally like over the head ones because of they are the most comfortable, these Sony clip-ons are just as good. After a while I don't even realize they are there, that's how comfortable they are. The sound is pretty good, considering they aren't meant to be noise cancelling. Although when you first put them on they may feel a little loose, they are actually very secure, I even run in them without any problems. They are also very portable and lightweight, great for traveling.

I also love the interchangeable covers and wish they would come out with more colors.

Overall, I would definitely recommend these. Great price, great product.

Customer Review: Great headphones for the style and price!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought a pair of these in my sophmore year of high school and I'm now about to be a senior in college. It's true the plastic over the ear part is breakable but you just have to be a little careful. I think these fit marvelously on my ears and I got them because I thought they would fit well unlike the earbuds which always fall out of my ears. The sound quality on these is fabulous for the price and the open style. I have a pair of bass boosting Skullcandies [shameless plug] and yet I still turn to these guys for the comfort and quality for the gym or when it's raining. The cord is supposed to be tangle-less or something like that but it is one of my most tangled cords pretty much all the time. It never gets into impossible knots and I have figured out that if you start untangling them as you turn on your mp3 player, the start up time usually equals the untangle time for me, or about so anyway. I used to use these as my regular headphones until I got the Skullcandies so they are great for everyday too. And as you can see from me having them for 5+ years, they are quite durable if given just a little care. I totally recommend these as everyday headphones [they won't block out all the noise but the sound quality is so good] or as an excellent gym pair.

Customer Review: I have owned two pairs, both were great
Summary: 5 Stars

These headphones are wonderful! I am right now on my second pair. My originals never broke, but after 3 years of use they became disgusting so I got new headphones. I listen to all genres or rock music with these things and I have no complains.

Pros:
1. Ear clips are extremely comfortable and work perfectly! I could where these things all day.
2. Long lasting.
3. I have played all sorts of music though them. (except modern rap) They make everything sound great. (Right now I am listing to Slipknot in wonderful clarity)
4. I often use them with biking and they do not at all interfere with my helmet.
5. Unlike ear bud head phones, Apple Earbud Headphones (White), they are not even remotely painful and stay on perfectly.
6. I have found that other headphones lose quality when turned up loud, these sound perfect, if not better, when turned up.

Cons:
1. I lost the blue plastic covers quickly. Never even bothered to replace them with the silver ones.
2. A friend of mine complained that they would not stay on while skateboarding.
3. The black pads that go up against your ears will over time, depending on how much you use them, change from black to a dark yellow.
