Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony MSXM8GS 8 GB Memory Stick PRO Duo (Retail Package)Customer Review: It's a memory Card.... but Beware of Fakes! Summary: 5 Stars
So I ordered the 8GB memory card from a retailer on Amazon. It came in, and everything looked as it should. Then as I started to use it in my Video camera, I was getting error messages and data corruption issues. I did some searching around on the internet and I found that the error is usually do to counterfeit memory cards. So I looked on the page and they gave a great list of things to look for. Biggest giveaway that mine was not really from Sony:
* There was no product information paper on the inside in several languages
* The UPC had MSX-M8GST/X, the valid UPC does not have the "T/X" at the end, and the actual number under the UPC was for a 1GB memory card.
* Obviously the bad performance of the card.
I talked with Amazon, and got the seller to refund my money and I ordered it directly from Amazon. When I looked at the two packages side by side, there was an obvious difference. On the card, the print was very faded (and incorrect) versus the legit card.
So the card itself is great, but buyer beware of the fakes. Here is a good article that talks about spotting fakes: [...]

Customer Review: Sony's Magic Stick Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this 8gb card to replace the 2gb card that I had for my PSP. This card should only really be purchased for a PSP that has custom firmware and someone that doesn't have custom firmware will have a heck of a time trying to fill this bad boy up.
The usual is expected on the format of this stick, it goes down to 7.7gb (the old 1024 bytes to 1000 bytes scam that all companies use ;) ) but its really not a problem.
The card reads fast (in par with other Sony cards) and is made out of sturdy materials. It is well worth the price and can hold about 3-4 ISOs depending on the games you want to put on it and has room left over for cwcheat, saves or whatever else you might need.
I moved over my old 2gb card to my other PSP but I might just have to pick another one of theses bad boys up.
Customer Review: Best memory stick for the psp!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Okay, the Sony 8GB memory stick (MSX-M8GS) is fantastic, period. It not only works on the PSP, but on anything that uses Pro Duo, which includes cameras and so forth. It even comes with an adapter for devices that use the old Duo sticks.
What can you do with 8GB? Well you can hold a bunch of music files, photos, movies. I can watch whole seasons of my favorite shows, no joke. I had watched all of victory Gundam and still had enough room for more, and victory Gundam has around 30 episodes. Imagine watching all of the first season of heroes on your psp without changing sticks, sweet no?
I would only recommend this to anyone who feels that a two and four gig memory stick is two small or someone who wants a whole season of a tv show on their psp. A bit pricey, but well worth it.
Customer Review: awesome storage....but Summary: 5 Stars
i recently purchased this 8gb card from amazon. i love it. the card is awesome, as long as you get a real one. luckily i did. i rated 5 stars but it's more like 4.5 stars.
i use it with my psp slim. totally compatible. my only gripe is that it only has 7600mb storage not actually 8000mb. 400mb seems a bit much to not have available. but oh well. what really bugged my is that my favorite game, street fighter alpha 3 max does not recognize the card. it tells me i need to insert a card at least 250mb. all my other games (godfather mob wars, mortal kombat unchained, namco museum) dont have a problem. the card is magic gate supported. i dont know if its my game or what, i haven't came across anyone else complaining about this. but other that that i recoment
Customer Review: Awesome reliability and speed Summary: 5 Stars
I have two of these 8GB babies and use one in my PSP Slim and the other in my Sony VAIO UX280P micro PC. On the PSP I loaded 5GB with movies and TV as well as my favorite MP3s, and leave over 2GB for game saves. The speed of the memory stick on both devices (the PSP and the UX280P) is quite good. (Sony also sells "high-speed" cards with red markings, which are about 50% faster but also 50% more expensive.) I don't know if this 8GB memory stick is ReadyBoost-capable on Vista; I have a 4GB version which supports ReadyBoost in my Sony FE-series laptop at work.
I own quite a number of Sony memory stick media and they've always been reliable. I've dropped them, stepped on them (actually my son did that more often), and they still work.
