This NP-FD1 battery is of the same size and capacity as the NP-BD1 battery that came with your Sony digital camera. This means it's slim and takes the same number of shots. The difference is the FD1 is an "InfoLithium" battery (Sony's trademark) and it tells you the approximate remaining minutes on the camera LCD screen. This estimate is not completely accurate, but does give you a rough idea of how much longer you can use your camera before battery runs down. Note that the indicator is number of remaining minutes, not number of shots.
BTW, while generic replacements for the BD1 battery abound (but I don't recommend using a non-OEM LiIon battery for safety reasons), I haven't seen one for the FD1, presumable because this one uses Sony's proprietary time-estimating technology.

I am really satisfied with the purchase. The original battery that came with the camera always died out on me on the most important moments. Knowing that i was going on a cruise and that I needed serious battery for the tours, I decided to purchase this battery. I was amazed at the price and the shipping from the seller, this same battery sells locally for almost $50. I got the battery in about 3 days, tested it and am very happy with my decision to purchase it. The battery tells how much it has left in percentage, not only the battery icon. Because I was planning a trip and thought I might need to take a lot of pictures each day, I ordered an extra battery for my Sony Exmar DSC-TX1 camera. I carry it in my pocket nearly 100% of the time. I was pleasantly surprised that the new battery had a feature the original battery did not have - it shows how many minutes remain for use in both photo and video modes. The little battery bars the old battery showed (and the new one also shows) is not nearly as informative as seeing real numbers. Also, the price was much better than getting one at a local store or from Sony's web site. So, I am happy with my purchase.Customer Review: Excellent prodcut

I purchase this for my trip to japan, it was good to have and extra battery and also since it tells you how much minutes you have left you never miss a vid.
Not much to say about this other than battery life was good and to see the minutes remaining is a great option in a small camera.
