This is a very good product and I am glad that I relied on the comments of other Amazon reviewers to buy this instead of several cheaper inferior batteries. I use my Sony A-100 a lot and have two other aftermarket batteries in addition to the one that came with the camera. While the three year-old batteries are still functioning, they no longer hold a charge for a decent amount of time. The NPFM500 works perfectly with my camera and I have really long life per charge. I bought this battery based on other reviews. The battery life is phenomenal. I was leary of the less expensive battery (replacement batteries) that were not made by Sony due to the recurring statement 'they do not give very long battery life, buy the Sony'. While it is a little more, I am very pleased I heeded this advice. Getting ready for a trip to WDW and did not want to run out of power. You can't replace memories. I purchase two Sony NPFM500H Alpha Rechargeable Battery for my Alpha 200 with the VG-B30AM vertical grip. On a four hour period I was able to take 2225 pictures a quarter of which were RAW+JPEG and the rest JPEG. One of the battery in the vertical grip was used up and the remaining had 68% power which I guess could have given me eight hundred more pictures. From my user experience I can call the Sony NPFM500H the best battery in the world for dslr cameras.Customer Review: Needed Replacements

Great battery, used from new 2.5 years but felt I started to see them need to be recharged more so I put the item on my wishlist. Then, a photography podcast suggested to give a try at "China" batteries for my camera. While they might not have the computer chip to be a "smart" battery, and they might not last 2.5 years before noticing a decline in performance, they cost 10% - 20% of the Sony battery. This is the best battery for the buck. Charges faster, holds the charge longer, and doesn't just up and die like the generic batteries do. Have used several brands on my Sony Alpha 700, and this is the only one I will use from now on. Appearance has nothing to do with it - they all look pretty much the same. Performance is what counts and these are work-horse batteries. Can't beat the price here at Amazon either.
