As this is the brand-name battery that fits the Sony Alpha 100-200-300 (etc.) family of digital SLRs, it makes sense to buy the one produced by the maker of the camera. I bought this as a backup. Haven't had to use it as the battery supplied with the camera is going strong and is more than enough capacity for the usual family, grandkid pics. Very nice battery for the Sony A700. It's a bit expensive but seems to hold its charge pretty well. I estimate that the battery can last a whole day but that would depend on how many shots you fire, review with the lcd screen, and how often you use the built in flash.Customer Review: Great Battery

Sony has really increased the battery life with the newer infolithium batteries they offer. I use them with my A700 and various lenses. I can usually get a good 4 hours of continuous shooting out of them. That's powering the camera, lense motors, auto focus...etc.
