Such a disappointment with Sony! This monitor never stops beeping; supposedly, this is only supposed to happen if it is out of range or low on battery, but to us, it happened more often than not. After reading all the great reviews and trusting the Sony brand, I got this monitor as a shower gift. I am not that impressed. It picks up a lot of static at times, shuts off at times (with the green light on, so you don't notice right away), beeps like you are out of range, when you are only in the next bedroom. Seems to work better plugged in, and I unplugged my phone that sits next to it, seems to help also. We only live in a apartment, this product would be really bad in a large house. I live in an apartment, so I have no problem with reception. It works exceptionally well. There are so many channels to switch that I have never gotten interference from anywhere else. This item is durable, and convenient.Customer Review: Lousy monitor.

I bought this monitor for our 6 month old twins based on the great reviews and found it to be lousy. Picks up too much interference, our phonecalls are broadcast over the receiver and it doesn't always pick up sounds from the room. It also makes periodic beeping noises.
We bought a 900mhz Attachable Monitor from First Years to monitor our then 2 year old, and a year and a half later it is still working great. Looks like we'll be buying another one to replace the still new (and overpriced) Sony model.

With a newborn and an 18 month old, we needed two monitors in two different rooms (talk about multi-tasking!). I looked high and low, and tried several combinations of monitors that didn't work due to excessive static, interference, or incessant beeping. After reading other reviews, I decided this monitor may be the answer to our problem, and I went out and bought it. With the 9 channels, I was able to bypass a lot of interference and static, and actually hear my daughter in addition to hearing my other daughter in another monitor at the same time!
We did initally have an issue with the range alarm sounding intermittently, and some static, but we changed to another channel and haven't had one problem since. I would highly recommend this monitor for a two monitor home...that is, if it works with your existing monitor (ours is a Safety 1st Safe Glow 2 reciever monitor).
Good monitor at a decent price...I have no complaints.
