Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony NTM-900 900MHz BabyCall System!Customer Review: We've been nothing but happy Summary: 5 Stars
Unlike many other reviewers, we didn't try other models, so don't have a comparison, but have been nothing but happy with the Sony Baby Call. We bought ours when it was a new model, 2 years ago, counting on the Sony name. We have had nothing but good results.
Some reviewers complained about the beeping, but we don't find it excessive. Ours only beeps when we're out of range or the battery is low -- both situations we want to be alerted to. Frequently, we can alleviate the out of range beeping by moving the position of the receiver slightly.
Like other reviewers, we like the voice activated feature. Also, when visiting with friends or watching a movie after baby's bedtime, we typically turn the sound completely down but put the lights within our line of sight. That way, we're not startled or interrupted if he simply coughs or tosses, and can check on him if need be.
We've used this when we've traveled, and in several different houses when staying with friends/family and have always been pleased (even when 5 monitors were operating in the same house!). We frequently take it across the street to our neighbors' porch and are still within range.
We're about to purchase our second monitor for a baby on the way and are anxious to try the "2 bases, 1 receiver" trick. Highly recommended!!!!
Customer Review: Great Monitor for the price Summary: 5 Stars
I picked this monitor after reading many reviews. The reviews didn't lie. This monitor does great on distance. I have a 2400 sq ft home that has 3 floors. The bedrooms are on the 3rd floor and most of my housework ended up on the 2nd floor. I can have this on while vacuuming and still hear my son cry or even move around when he would wake up and not make a sound. I could hear him grunt even! I don't know why the one review mentions a 15ft signal loss. You're given many channels in order to find the right strength. I could go outside of my home and walk approximately 10 ft away from the garage door and still have signal (he was on opposite end of house upstairs). I also took the receiver in the shower a couple of times, not getting it soaked. Also like the voice activated portion but that only works if the room or surrounding area has no sound (no radio or tv or mobile playing). Great product, strongly recommend. My son is now 5 months old and the monitor still works great. This monitor is the right choice for the average household. Interference may come if you're on the same channel. I have wifi network, cordless digital phones and nextels and do not have any interference with this monitor so others just don't know how to resolve thier issue before blaming the product.
Customer Review: love this monitor Summary: 5 Stars
We started out with the Fischer-Price Soothing Dreams monitor upon the recommendation of a friend. Their daughter loved the light show (as did ours) but they didn't mention the static and noise were so bad they couldn't use it when they were asleep. We had the same result, as did a third friend. When we went back to the store to look at other monitors....We found a name we could trust in home electronics, Sony. The microphone in this is ultra sensitive - will even pick up sounds in the next room, and is crystal clear. You can hear the smallest creaks of someone sneaking into check on baby. It has a feature that seems to figure out what decible is background noise, and shuts off for that, and only back on for a louder sound. I sleep peacefully in this mode and wake up when she is just starting to wimper a little. The only downside is when she is talking quietly to herself it registers it as background noise, and I have to reach over and switch it to "everything" mode to hear how she is doing. Having the internal battery that charges when plugged in (like your phone) is a great feature for taking it around the house or yard.)
Customer Review: If I'd only known then what I know now! Summary: 5 Stars
My husband and I are so pleased with how wonderful this product is! We had originally registered for (and received) the Sounds n Lights monitor with dual receivers. The light show was adorable but the reception for the actual monitor (the part you acutally need and use) was horrible. There was a constant clicking noise and the static was nerve wrecking. We couldn't stand to turn it on and as a result our son slept in our bedroom for six months. When I finally decided to try again I decided to do a little more research and see what was recommended. I couldn't be any happier with this product. It has a great feature that allows the monitor to shut off until the baby moves or makes a sound, and it even has an alarm that goes off on your end if the monitor in the baby's room is turned off. This monitor is so sensitive that it'll even pickup the dogs barking in the backyard. The reception is so clear and there is NO static. And yes we have several cordless phones (do they make any other now a days?) which seems to be the reason that the other monitor had such interference. I definitely recommend this product. Kudos to Sony!!!!! :)
Customer Review: A Great Monitor Summary: 5 Stars
We spent a lot of time looking at different monitors and decided on the Sony Baby Call in part due to the great reputation of Sony. I am so happy with this monitor. It has 9 channels to switch between, although we have never had to switch ours. The reception is very clear (and we live in a townhouse developent with lots of babies with monitors). What I really like is the fact that you can put this monitor on standby mode and it remains completely silent until the baby makes a noise and then clicks on. This makes it much easier to sleep at night especillay since my baby has music in our room (which the monitor filters out, while still picking up every cough and grunt she makes). The range is great, it doesn't interfere with our phones or electronics. We also looked at the Sony Baby Call 27 channel with rechargable batteries, but we don't need that many channels and we use rechargable batteries anyway. In either case, this monitor comes with an AC adapter plug so we keep the monitor plugged into the wall of the room we are in so it doesn't eat batteries. We are very happy with this monitor!!!
