Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony NTM-900 900MHz BabyCall System!Customer Review: This monitor probably saved my baby's life Summary: 5 Stars
Just this morning my husband and I woke up to the sound of our 7 1/2 month old coughing and gasping for air. He was vomiting in his crib (he's had a cold) and he needed someone to clear his airway. A family friend gave us this monitor as a gift (we'd registered for this monitor but a family member had given us the Fisher-Price Lights and Sounds monitor instead). The difference is huge! For the $40 difference you get virtually no feedback or static. I don't think we would have heard the subtle noises Luke was making if there had been static.
The only bizarre thing the monitor does is occasionally beep loudly for no reason (like warning of a dead battery), so it has to be moved (like it's out of range). Not big enough of a problem to impact star-rating, so it's still 5-stars in my book!
Customer Review: Best Monitor Summary: 5 Stars
I love this monitor! I've only experience 2 others while staying with relatives, and this one has the best features and reception. You have the choice to hear all sounds at all times(such as background music, mobile, etc), OR you can select to hear only sudden and/or louder noises such as a baby's cry or talking (hope that makes sense). But it's beneficial if you play lullaby music or mobile for baby and you have monitor next to your own bed, you are not kept away by the sounds of music/mobile, and instead are awaken only by sudden noises such as cooing or crying. It picks up even the tiniest tick/tock of a clock and the breathing of a baby. No problem with range for me, baby's room is on opposite side of house and have no problems. Have not experienced any interference from other phones, etc.
Customer Review: Absolute best monitor on the market! Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely love this monitor. I don't think I could lay in bed and listen to a monitor that doesn't have a voice activation feature. Its so nice that I don't hear every little noise going on in the baby's room. But if I do want to use it as a regular monitor, there is zero static. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this monitor. You can't beat it for the price either. Its a life saver! If you use it as a portable (use batteries rather than AC), it does tend to eat batteries quite quickly. That would be my only complaint, but for the amount I use it that way, it does not pose a problem. It has a great range also. I have a very large yard and it picks up the receiver from a very far distance. Can't say enough good about it!
Customer Review: GREAT Monitor!! Summary: 5 Stars
We registered for (and received) a Fisher Price Soothing Dreams monitor before reading the reviews on this website. It was awful - just as the other reviews state, there is a constant "clicking" in the receiver and the sound is very muffled and low quality. I was shocked that Fisher Price can get away with marketing the Soothing Dreams product as a "monitor" - what a joke! We exchanged it for the Sony Baby Call monitor and LOVE IT! This really is an excellent monitor - the sound is crystal clear and there is NO static or background noise, only the noise of the room. My husband and I were thrilled with it and have absolutely no complaints - well worth the money AND it comes with rechargeable batteries in the receiver.
Customer Review: best monitor Summary: 5 Stars
We asked for this monitor in our baby shower registry. We have other 900Mhz electronics in the house and we do not get any interference. The feature of having multiple channels helps greatly to find one that works best. We loved it so much that we acutally bough a second one. Now we have one in the nursery (upstairs) and one in the family room donwstairs. So no matter where the baby is, we can always listen without having to move the transmitter around. And my wife and I have the benefit of using them as an "intercom". After a month of almost constant daily use, we still have the first set of batteries. Not sure how much longer we have on them, but what I have heard from other monitors, usually they don't last this long.
