Customer Review: Does what it Should

Nothing special here as DVD Burners go, it works as it should.
Though it should be noted that this drive will burn 16X media at 20X if thats a concern for anyone ? Personally I stay with the medias labeled speed rating to minimize any wright errors that may come with the higher speeds. Noise wise its fairly quiet and probably on par with most drives on the market today.
For the price It may be a step up from a cheap Light-On but, being a SONY product I wouldn't be surprised if the internals were just as average. I'm no SONY hater but, SONY tends to use a lot of inferior internal parts and jack the prices up simply because people see the name and think the item is of a higher quality than other manufacturers. This seems to be the opinion of most AV repair guys I have talked to over the years.
This also seems to vary a lot so for those of you who wanting to stretch your dollar do your research before plunking down your dough.
All in all the drive is what it is and nothing special.
