This drive works well. I've burned few hundred DVDs and CDs without much difficulty. I've only had rare issues with discs sporadically. This may not be the drive but the blank media? I wanted to add dual layer capability to my PC and since my hard disk is SATA I thought that I should use a SATA DVD and this is the first reasonably-priced one that I found. When I installed it it did not work at first and made terrible noises. I finally noticed that the case was bent and I popped it out. It then started to work like ti should. However, it still occasionally makes loud noises, but it does seem to write and read DVD's. I haven't complained to the company so I can't say if they would be responsive or not.Customer Review: What is America coming too???

Got this as an upgrade over my old Lite-on pata drive. Worked fine for about a week. Read/Burn all was okay. Then into the second week it began not reading DVDs it had previously burnt, then it progessed to the point it would refuse to read any media whether it was CD/DVD, burnt/original or blank. Really disappointed but hopes were never high with Sony. Lite On has been much better for me so I'm reverting to that brand from now on.Customer Review: Sucks!

Purchased this in late March through Amazon from ZipZoomFly and installed in new windows 7 computer in April.
Completely failed in August 2010. One year warranty is worthless as by the time you comply with ZipZoomFly RMA requirements you could have purchased a new unit!
