Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony SRF-M37V FM/AM/Weather/TV Radio Walkman with 25 Memory PresetsCustomer Review: Best value in this price range. Summary: 5 Stars
If you are looking for a small portable radio that is quality constructed and whose most important feature is digital tuning, you can do no better than the Sony M37V.I looked at many small radios before deciding to purchase this unit. Sangean radios were attractive and stylish. If I wanted to spend $70 on a portable radio, they would have been my first choice. Panasonic also makes a radio that is about $5 less than this one. I liked the unobtrusive color, bigger headphones and Sony's superior quality reputation enough to shell out a few extra bucks. The sound is good with the provided headphones. I think it would be much better with a real pair such as Sennheiser manufactures. I think it is silly to buy a small portable radio for $30.00 and expect to have an Onkyo or Bose type sonic experience no matter what you spend on headphones. I have had good reception on this unit indoors, and excellent reception outdoors. This unit may not be your best choice for use in the home or office, based on the experiences other reviewers have had. If you are going to use it for outdoor activites, I can't give it a better reccomendation.
Customer Review: amazing little product Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this product for 6 or 7 years. I listened to it at work and dropped it many times, and the walkman still works. Well, all the stations are worn off, like I said I have had the product many years. I listen to it laying in the sun. Well, the other day, I was laying in my nephew's pool on a float and had it on top of me where it would not get wet. I fell off the float and in the pool my walkman went. I thought oh, no, I love this walkman. I know they do not make them anymore. I was very upset. I hit it on my hand to try to get all the water out, took the battery out, and let it dry in the sun. I put the battery back in, and plugged in the headphones...I COULD HEAR STATIC..I was shocked, it still worked. I got the clock to work, and the walkman does still play. I can still get all the radio stations, the tv sound, and it works, amazing. I would advise anyone to get this little walkman. It is a great product, after all the times I have dropped it, and even in the pool, it still works.
Customer Review: Exactly what I was looking for Summary: 5 Stars
This radio has great reception on both AM and FM. I live about 20 miles outside of Detroit, MI and I get loud and clear reception on all the stations I ever care to listen to. This radio is small but not flimsy, and the buttons and volume controls are not so small or sensitive that they are a nuisance to use. The detachable belt clip on the back is really sturdy, so when I am doing anything active, I clip it on my belt behind my back and get great reception through the very comfortable headphones. The feature I like best of all is the lock-out switch which prevents any of the buttons except the volume control from operating, so that you can't accidently shut the power off or change the station. I previously had an Aiwa mini radio that was a little smaller, but it had a flimsy metal belt clip that broke after about 10 uses, and it was always getting accidentally thrown off-station. It cost more than twice as much as this M37 which doesn't have any of those problems. This radio is a great buy!
Customer Review: Best performing radio of this size I have ever owned Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this radio for about 3 years, and the first one finally succumbed to the frequent drops (it survived several falls from my bicycle at 15 MPH). The internal AM antenna finally dislodged permanently after I fixed it a few times
The AM reception is amazing. At home near Philadelphia, I can easily pick up all New York stations, and can regularly hear Chicago, Cleveland and Cincinnati stations.
The weather band function also works well.
The FM sound quality is OK. I have seen some criticism of this radio in other reviews, but the expectations seem to be unrealistic. It clearly serves its purpose as a small sports radio.
I also saw some criticism of the inadvertent button pushing while exercising - the unit has a lock switch this disables all controls except the volume control - this works very well.
I would highly recommend this radio, and as proof, I just bought a replacement.
Customer Review: Awesome compact radio Summary: 5 Stars
I have been searching for the "perfect" compact radio and compared several brands. The Sony SRF-M37 is one of the best radios I have come across. It has AM/FM/TV/Weather bands. AM reception is outstanding. I live in CT and get a station in Cleveland every night, FM sensitivity is also outstanding. I don't use the TV or Weather so I can't really comment on them. The radio is very esy to use, the presets are easy to program. I also purchased the ultra compact expensive Sony SRF M-97, and though it is a great little compact radio it does not compare to the reception of the Sony SRF M37, I have since sold it on Ebay. The other radio that I highly recommend is the Sangean DT200V. AM/FM sensitivity is outstanding in this radio, and it also has a speaker. The Sony SRF-M37 and the Sangean DT200V would be my top choices hands down. The Sony is a little more compact than the Sangean, but does not have a speaker. Hope this review helps.
