I needed a portable radio that was effective and had great quality. I'm happy that I chose this one. The Sony SRF-M37V radio is a lightweight wonder. It's so small and can fit in your pocket and can clip onto your belt. This radio is awesome. The quality of the sound is very good. The digital tuning and the preset buttons are very convenient. The TV channels are also a nice feature (for local channels up to channel 13).
This radio looks sleek and very nice. It's also very nice in that it doesn't waste batteries. It only takes on AAA battery and lasts for many hours on that.
At first I thought that this radio was {too much} but it's a very good deal. You get a durable and reliable radio that you can use while working out or just chilling. When the radio is off the digital display tells the time, which is very convenient. You can take this Walkman anywhere, and it's great for private listening.

Why a radio? Having continuously hearing mp3 of my legends of 60s, 70s, 80s, (clock stops here), was getting dangerous as these gems (because of overdose) were becoming corn flakes. This was scary. Also felt this was making me insular, trapped in my own world, will listen what I want, when I want.
So returned to a radio. I am back with the outside world, with this 20$ piece of gadget. I use it for run, treadmill, steppers, in office.
The radio is made well, looks sturdy, clean, unobtrusive. Reception is well. Volume is loud. Only if could have a little more bass.
I had added Sony in-the-ear ear plugs that have added the bass. Happy. Fast forward to past.
I love the occasional static, FM fade outs, memories of the school in 60s, clinging to a transistor radio. Anil,

I have longed often for a product such as this. There is something about the AM stations in around my home and work in which the stations have a tendancy to bleed over one another making listening to the AM band almost impossible. With this Walkman it is a breeze to be able to lock into specific channels without the worry of a thumbnail tuner that constantly would drift off channel. There are plenty of pre-sets available and of course as the Sony Walkman sound quality is always tremendously excellent. The unit is a bit larger than a typical newer MP3 styled unit but comes with a handy belt clip. The headset it comes with perhaps is a bit dated but a typical ear bud styled one can easily be substituted. Overall this is a great product especially for those who enjoy Talk Radio.Customer Review: What a bargain!

Over the course of the last four years, I have gone through about one Sangean multiband personal radio each year. I tried to be so careful, but I inevitably dropped each one. They are not very durable, and they never sounded the same afterwards. Problems included AM only reception, total death, and earphone jack failure. This year, I was delighted to find a new manufacturer in the multiband personal radio market. I tried this smaller, cheaper Sony FR-M37V and I am pleased to report that it has been dropped 5 times in the 3 months that I have owned it and it still plays like new.
I agree with others who extol the many virtues of this little radio, but I had to issue a personal warning to steer clear of Sangean and plug this tough, less expensive little Sony.

Compare to other FM/AM players, this is the best. The only reason I brought this radio is to listen to AM radio(also for Emergency Alerts), and this is THE best that I could find. Small, and use only 1 AAA battery that last for a good 12 hour.
If you couldn't get a good reception, you could do any of the following:
1. Switch between DX and Local.
2. Use another headphone (don't use the small kind).
3. Move away/turn off interferences, i.e., computer, TV, video game (basically anything electronic).
I could easily find 5 good AM and FM stations and set it to memory for easy access(love this feature!) The TV is okay but the Weather is hopeless.
Overall, a great product. Review from an owner since 2006.
