I use walkman-type radios a lot. I have had several different ones over the years, including fancy Sangeans. None had any better reception or sound quality than this one. (I use Sony earbuds with an inline volume control.) None has even come close, in battery longevity. I use rechargeables, and having to carry only one spare cell in my pocket is great: the others require changing two batteries. I particularly commend Sony for leaving out the stupid, useless, bulky self-contained speaker that many others have. This is one of several good experiences I have had with Sony products in recent years.Customer Review: Great Radio

I simply bought this radio to take with me to a football game - just a whatever purchase. What I got really surprised me. The sensitivity of this unit is simply amazing in a consumer product this small. I clearly picked up KYW 1060 AM Philadelphia 30 miles south of Washington, D.C. I clearly picked up a Richmond, VA FM station that would be about 75 miles away. The D.C. stations came in with great fidelity. TV and Weather had the same satisfying experience. I've owned this little gem for over a year now, and I really like it. While most people may purchase this for overall adequate FM reception, a certain group may like the radio for AM. As small as it is, the radio is great for pulling in distant AM stations. Here at my location in central NY state, I could receive all the big stations up and down the east coast easily (KDKA, Pittsburgh, WBT Charlotte, WTIC, Hartford, Etc) Selectivity is pretty good also. I learned about this from CCrane, who specializes in Shortwave and AM/FM radios who also give it a good review.Customer Review: Reliable workhorse-good features

I bought this radio several years ago and have taken it all over. It goes with me to the gym, on the bus to work, always in my pocket. It's been really reliable and gets great FM reception, and good AM reception. I wish there were a way to counteract the interference from the bus engine/electronics, but that may be beyond the capacity of such an inexpensive radio.
I've never immersed it, but it has gotten wet, and been dropped-it's really well put together. I also love the lock feature to keep the station from changing inadvertently.

This is the best little radio I've ever had. 54 hrs. on one AAA battery! The reception on AM & FM is very good. The TV and Weather bands leaves something to be desired but they work. All digital tuning and accurate clock. 5 AM presets 10 FM. Fits in the palm of your hand. The lock switch avoids inadvertant turn on. The stock headset is good but I upgraded to a Sony MDR-08L set in the ear verticle set much better. I have 2 of these because I wanted to make sure I got a second one while they're still available. Get one you'll be amazed.
