Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony SRF59SILVER AM/FM Walkman Stereo RadioCustomer Review: decent radio Summary: 5 Stars
I have been using this radio for close to 2 years now and am now getting two more of those radios on request of my family members. The radio has both high FM and AM sensitivity, comparable to that for a dedicated tuner in an audio system. The power consumption is low. The sound quality is very good and becomes excellent, for a small radio, if you upgrade the headphones. I have used both Koss KSC50 and Sony DR-G250DP. The latter come with a concealable microphone boom and take care both of my radio and on-the-road computer needs.
Customer Review: Good little radio Summary: 5 Stars
Sony invented the Walkman and probably changed a lot with the way we listen to our music.
The Sony SRF 59 FM/AM Walkman Radio is a basic small, lightweight radio which has a belt clip and whose headphones are the comfortable over the head and ears type.
It has enough power to pick up FM and AM stations easily. The sound is clear and not distorted.
I bought this radio for my wife to use at the gym. She can use it to listen to the TV while on a treadmill.
For $15 it's a great buy.
Customer Review: Long Distance Reception Summary: 5 Stars
The Sony SRF 59 has incredible long distance reception for such a small device. I live in North Jersey and have no trouble listening to clear AM reception from Toronto, Canada, Detroit, Chicago, Nashville, or St Louis. I am on my second one and recently brought three more just to have as spares in case they ever stop making this radio. It is truly the best portable, one-battery, high - reception radio there is. It is hard to even find a small AM-FM unit with a rotary tuner (most are digital) which is essentail for fine tuning.
Customer Review: Smooth clear audio Summary: 5 Stars
I like to take walks and listen to Air America talk radio, and over the years have bought a lot of these little radios to use when walking, and so I expected this one to be so-so like the rest, but good enough.
I was surprised to find I can listen to FM music and it is quality like my stereo system at home. Plus it holds the station much better than other radios I've bought.
So now I listen to music while I walk more than politics... Very good quality especially at this price - thank you, Sony.
Customer Review: Solid performer with strong reception in this price range Summary: 5 Stars
I use this Sony exclusively for health club workouts. It's lightweight, compact and delivers great sound. I generally tune it to one of the TV broadcasts but sometimes switch to FM radio if nothing of interest is on the televisions.
The health club is made of cinder block and my former portable FM radio was very 'directional' and unable to sustain a decent signal. This Sony Walkman solved the problem.
If you don't need MP3 storage and simply want a great FM receiver, this is an excellent choice.
