I have never used a telephoto lens and am less than an amateur photographer. It took me just a little trial and error to understand how to really maximize the use of this lens. I first tried it out on a small mountain, zooming in and getting a sense of depth for environments in the foreground vs. background. It made me feel like I knew what I was doing!
Excellent and simple to use.
Negatives: A found it bit heavy and difficult to store in my small carrying case.
***Does anyone know if there is a polarized lens that can be placed on top of the telephoto lens? I would really like to do this.

This conversion lens is a must for anyone shooting indoors or on a sightseeing tour. There is no detectable deterioration in picture quality, the pictures are crisp and the colors are excellent. You will probably not take it off at all except when you need to mount the sister TeleConversion lens VCLHG1737C. I've tried a number of other converters but none of them matches this one by Sony.Customer Review: Good Product, Don't think i need it.

If you where to ask me, is this a good product and durable I have to say the best.
If you where to ask me, how often do you use it, I have to say almost never.
The reason is that the video camera zoom is so good that I only use the wide angle conversion lens VCL-HGA07 ... when you want simplicity is difficult to carry everything around!!!

It was really usefull to compensate the loss of zooming feature of Sony Handycam HDR-XR550V.
I was recently in Nepal and the accessory was essential to take mountain movies without beeing an alpinist or to film beasts without unnecessary risks in the Jungle.

Used this TeloConversion lens this year for deer season and was extremely please with its performance. At 500plus yards I could bring the deer in close enough to tell his horn size. Got some really great videos!
