Customer Review: This is Never Coming Off My Camera
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had my A700 for a while but held off on getting the grip. It's just a battery holder and I'm and underpaid part time freelancer for a local newspaper, I thought. I can carry around an extra battery in my bag and save the $$ for a new lens. One day I tried a demo out in the store and fell in love with the grip on the spot. It completely changed the way the camera handled. Now the camera feels more balanced. With most of the controls duplicated on the grip, I actually like shooting vertical shots. My fast zoom lenses (heavy buggers) feel more balanced too. The grip makes the camera look more 'pro' too. Now I don't feel inferior to the Canikons when shooting events in the media pool :). The only negative is when I'm shooting in Aperture or Shutter mode I occasionally bump one of the dials and change the setting. But you can turn the grip control off with a switch. This will not get you a job with SI, but it will make your photography more enjoyable.

Customer Review: Sony a700 Grip Review
Summary: 5 Stars

This grip has proven to be excellent in construction and with the extra battery, your shoot time is doubled. It does make it monstrous in size and when i brought it to a family gathering, everyone was blown away by its size. So in a world where size matters, this gives you a major boost. Seriously though, all the buttons and comfort are top notch and it gives you more grip on your expensive camera, especially if you have high dollar optics. The only thing that I don't care for is that with my old 80-200mm 2.8 G, without the adapter I was able to rest the whole camera and lens on the tripod mount, now with the grip, it has to tilt which can put undesired stress on the rotating front lens element, so have to rest it on books or in the bag. It is a bit pricey, but if you compare to other brand's grips, it basically gives you a second set of all the controls...a more realistic no-brainer price would be around $250...

Customer Review: Highly functional and ergonomic
Summary: 5 Stars

Like many, I googled for opinions on the necessity of a vertical grip. In general, the people that purchased them loved it. I wasn't sold. At least not until I spent a day taking pictures of my 3 month old daughter. Holding the camera, sans grip, in portait orientation while waiting for those precious moments can take a toll on your wrist. Especially when you have good glass mounted (70-200 2.8 ~ 3lbs). I also noticed more camera shake without it.

I'm truly impressed with all the functionality that they included with the grip. Almost all the buttons that you routinely use are on the grip (including joystick). The buttons are even weather sealed, like the camera. Only thing missing is the playback button, but that's just a training issue. $250 is a bit hefty, but this grip does have more features than the average grip. I'm totally satisfied with this purchase.

Customer Review: a700 Grip Review
Summary: 5 Stars

I love the grip for vertical shots. All of the controls from the camera are duplicated on the grip. The main thing I like is the extended battery life it added to the camera's battery. It seemed like the battery in the camera did not last long enough when out on a shoot. With the grip, you have two batteries. One thing I like is the door on the battery compartment of the camera stays on the camera while the grip is attached. It has a slot that it slides into. When you have a long lens attached, the grip gives you a place to hold the camera for balance without holding the lens. It also makes it easier for me to pick up the camera from my Pelican case. Before, there was nothing to hold onto. Now, the extra handle makes it easy to pick it up. If it had an insert for using "AA" batteries, it would be perfect. I give it a 9 out of 10.

Customer Review: The very best one
Summary: 5 Stars

I owned several grips from different brands (mainly Canon and Minolta). It was either to be able to shot more pictures, either to shot... vertically.
This one seems to be unbeatable.
First, all the functions you need are really under your (at least mines) fingers.
Second, it is the first time, while shooting vertically with my camera (here a Sony Alpha 700) that I feel so comfortable that I could forget that I am not shooting horizontally.
