Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony XDRF1HD HD Radio TunerCustomer Review: This little gem is wonderful!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I had debated whether or not to get HD Radio. Once I saw how reasonable this unit was priced I decided to go for it. Boy am I glad I did!!!!!! It was very easy to install. My only gripe with that is the unit does not come with the patch cords needed to hook it up to the receiver.
The sound quality is vastly improved over the standard FM receiver. It truly is CD quality! I am impressed with the additional stations available through the HD format. It's a good alternative to subscription radio. If you have been debating......I say, give it a try!
Customer Review: Excellent Tuner! Summary: 5 Stars
HD (hybrid digital) radio is not yet available for this area, so I can only comment on the analog performance of the XDRF1HD. That has been spectacular. The selectivity and sensitivity are as fine as I expected, after reading Brian Beezley's thorough technical review. To get the full benefit of the tuner's features, an outdoor or attic antenna is essential. If the enclosed folded dipole is used and positioned close to the tuner, it may pick up a little of its own noise. All in all, I'm delighted with the radio and would certainly buy it again.
Customer Review: Excellent HD radio tuner Summary: 5 Stars
The Sony XDR-F1HD AM-FM HD tuner has exceeded my expections in all ways. It replaced a much larger and totally unsatisfactory Insignia tuner and displays far better audio quality and ability to receive difficult HD stations. Its analog FM performance on distant stations is even better than the tuner in my A/V receiver. The Sony was easy to set up and has plenty of presets. Although its dial display is lit when the unit is off, the brightness is directly controlled by the remote, a nice touch. This tuner performes far above its price level.
Customer Review: Great Tuner for HD and Analog Summary: 5 Stars
This unit plays great HD content at dead quiet noise levels and quite robust dynamic range, about the same as a local CD player. I used its output to made a recording of a live classical concert (in HD) that sounds as good as I would expect of a CD recording. I have a local jazz station that does not broadcast in HD and this was the only tuner ever to even pickup a listenable signal, albeit in analog FM. Its small form factor works for me as an easily portable, quality audio source, in my studio, my living room or even an P.A. source.
Customer Review: FM Radio at it's best Summary: 5 Stars
this radio tuner has amazing reception and sound and i am using the included antenna ... the conventional FM stations sound great and the HD sound is good, but the jury is still out on whether it is better or not ... the station and song/artist info on the display is a great feature ... audiophiles have rated this unit very highly, saying it outperforms tuners that cost 5-10X more ... i use mine with a high quality system, but you could plug it into some computer or Ipod speakers and still get great sound ... get one while you can !!!
