I was watching TV and I noticed that the screen was really getting dim plus I saw the low lamp display on my TV that has been coming on for about 6months now. So I decided to order the replacement lamp for my TV Friday night on October 21, 2010 before it goes out. On Monday October 24th, my wife tells me that the lamp went out on the TV so I told her I ordered a new lamp already so hopefully it arrives on Wed. just in time for the World Series, her comment was "yeah OK, I doubt it". I received the new lamp on October 27 sometime in the afternoon. I had read other peoples reviews, that stated they only received the bulb and not the whole assembly like the picture showed on the internet so ofcourse I was nervous opening the box. Well after opening the box I received exactly what the picture on the website displayed. It was so easy to replace the part, it took me longer to clean the dust that was inside where the lamp goes, so I suggest you have a vacuum hose because there will be dust in there when you remove the old lamp. My four year old daughter could have changed it out for me, it's that simple. When I plugged the TV back into the wall socket and turned the TV on it lit the whole room up it was so bright. My kids were jumping in joy because now they can watch cartoons again. Hopefully I wont have to replace it again for another 4yrs and the price for the bulb was easily a hundred bucks less than the sony website. When our TV's lamp went out, I was a little concerned about how hard it would be to change this thing out... I'm a computer geek by trade, but I honestly don't know a lot about HD televisions. I took a quick look at my TV's manual, and had learned how to pop the lamp in and out in just a few minutes.
Basically, you pop open one panel, turn a lever and pull out another panel, grab the old lamp by hook/finger handle, gently pull up and out. Push the new one in until it pops into place, make sure you replace the inner panel properly (the one with the lever, if not secured properly, the TV won't turn on), then pop the outer panel back on and there you have it, a TV again.
Our lamp has been in for several months, and the image quality (especially brightness) seems to be as good as I remember the stock lamp. Having said that, it may be the stock lamp.
Summary: if your WEGA or whatever goes black and this lamp fits into your unit, then get one. I like a bright TV in a dark room, as does my wife. We've both put this replacement lamp to it's paces, not to mention we leave the TV on when we're not home.
Customer Review: Its a light bulb - how hard can it be?

Purchased from Amazon vendor River Valley Electronics - Lowest cost, three day delivery, well packaged, pre-paid environmental disposal return label. Since they don't take bulbs alone, I suspect they are more interested in getting the carriage assembly to re-use than any environmental concerns. Still, 5 stars for the vendor, service was all I expected.
I bought the lamp with carriage assembly as I didn't want to mess with putting the fragile bulb in the existing carriage assembly. In the Sony TV, carriage replacement is super simple - open the main door, remove the UV radiation protection door, pull up the retaining latch handle, pull out the old carriage, gently push in the new, replace the two door assemblies, total time five minutes, including digging up a flashlight because you can't really see what you are doing without one. Product gets 5 stars as well.
I have seen some posts here saying the replacement bulbs don't last. Mine is too new to comment on that. If it burns out anytime soon I'll re-post.

My Sony LCD bulb decided to "pop" and go out just days before Superbowl Sunday. Thankfully the party was eslewhere otherwise I would have been forced to spend hundreds if not over a thousand dollars for a replacement television. Just as described in other reviews, the replacement bulb arrived packed ever so snuggly which one worries about with "bulb" shipment. Had the bulb with its harness replaced in seconds, and the return postage for recycling purposes was a nice touch. I have received several compliments since, asking what had I done to the television since its picture was so much brighter and sharper. And here I was for the last year sometimes waiting up to two minutes for the bulb to warm up? We purchased this lamp yesterday.....it was delivered today...and TV is working!!! Better than ever. We didn't realize how dim the TV has been. But we found this part on Amazon....and we are so blessed that we were put in touch with TopSellerWorldWide in Amazon. What customer service...within minutes there was a reply to my concern. And to top it off....they kept in touch up to the time to let us know it is on the truck! Can't get better than that.....thank you Amazon and thank you David!!!!
The part was exactly what we needed and it was so very easy to find it on Amazon, we just googled the part number and up it came at Amazon. The price was up to 50% less than other places on the Internet.
