Customer Review: XL-2100 replacement for Sony KF-50WE610
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this lamp to replace the original on my Sony 50" LCD projection TV, model KF-50WE610, that I bought a little over three years ago. The installation took about 30 minutes, but now that I've done it once, it'll probably take 10 minutes next time.

The hardest part was removing the front panel cover. First, loosen the screws around the back on either side. What I did then was start at the right side, getting it loosened up there, and then sort of wedging it out as I moved over to the left side.

Once you get the main face plate off, the lamp housing is right in the middle. Remove the plastic plate in front of the lamp, and unscrew the lamp with the included 3mm Allen wrench (well, it was included in *mine*). Pull out the old lamp, pop the new one in, tighten it down (not too tight), and put the lamp cover back on. Check that old lamp, you'll probably see the blown-out filament. At this point, plug the TV in. If the red light glows steady, you're good. If it blinks, the lamp is not installed solidly. Try removing and reseating it.

Once you've got it, pop the main face plate back on. There are three little sockets (on my TV anyway) that the face plate pops into. You'll see them when you have it off - this is what makes removing the face plate a little tough. Pop those in by just pressing on the face plate at those points. You should feel (and hear) them pop in. Once they're in, tighten up the mounting screws on the back sides of the TV. Voila! You saved yourself probably $150 by doing it yourself. Now, do your best imitation of Tom Hanks in the scene in Castaway where he makes the bonfire, and proclaim "I...(thump chest)...have replaced the projection lamp in my TV!"

Customer Review: Easy install, quick delivery-Helpful reviews!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Reviews were definitely helpful....after identifying correct lamp, ordered module thru Vanns for ease of install. Very important-I have a 60in. Gran Wega, (i think model is kf60ew610)-The panel to remove is in the FRONT-bottom portion of the TV, where the power indicator light panel is-easily comes off with the big screws in the back panel, and access to module is right there...unscrew lamp w/ supplied allen wrench, remove old lamp, insert new lamp into position, screw in bolts tightly*** DO NOT TAKE BACK PANEL OFF***, its not there, as i found out!! ALSO-after install, MAKE SURE you put lamp cover back on-not front panel-LAMP COVER, then check to see if operational...should work. Reason i know this is because i did not put lamp cover on and TV indicated a series of blink sequences, green, yellow, then red..then 3 red blinks repeatedly then unit would turn itself off....Thank goodness the sony tech support had a knowledgeable person!! Very easy to install if done correctly. Oh, by the way, the bulb i just replaced lasted almost 5.5 yrs and i watch ALOT of movies, i hope to duplicate that w/ the new one!!

Customer Review: It's ALIVE...
Summary: 5 Stars

I suggest you buy from Vanns. The replacement lamp condition and packaging were good. The lamp was secure and the warranty and other documentation were inside. If you are thinking of having this lamp professionally installed, don't bother. Installation should take no longer than 30 minutes if you work diligently. You will save yourself at least $60.00 if you do it yourself. A word to the wise; when you remove the damaged lamp, take advantage and use a compressed-air duster aerosol can to blow out all the dust that is in the lamp compartment. Also, spray some air into the rear fan to clear out the dust that has accumulated in the back of the TV unit. When inserting the new lamp, make sure that it is securely in place, tighten the screws with an allen wrench, pop the front panel on, tighten the screws on the back. Now, grab a delicious drink, sit in a comfortable chair, press the power button on the remote, and Enjoy!!! ;-)

Customer Review: Makes your TV work, only slightly confusing.
Summary: 5 Stars

Had this shipped (arrived within the time frame stated) from Storefrontoutlet. We based who we ordered the piece from on the other reviews. We got exactly what we wanted, though.

Installation was much easier than most of the reviews make it out to be. Just download a copy of the manual prior to doing it and look it over. It's like a 4-step process, SO easy. The only confusing part is the initial popping-out of the front panel. Just go ahead and put some force into pulling it out - it's going to feel like it's breaking off the TV. Everything else was totally intuitive.

Since installing (maybe a month ago?) we've had NO issues and only great time watching our favorite shows and movies. The picture looks awesome! And considering our Sony TV was an unexpected free hand-me-down from my wife's boss when they bought a new tele - praise the Lord!

Customer Review: Easy Enough
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm not really a handy guy so I was a little concerned about this process of replacing a light bulb (ha). It wasn't bad at all. I still had my Sony manual so that helped a bunch. Otherwise I would have had no idea where to start. Also, the screw in the original bulb casing are hex screws (as opposed to phillips head) I believe, so it took awhile to find something that would work.

I suppose there are things I could complain about (removing the front panel of my tv, re-securing the front panel, the peculiar screws, etc...) but none of these things have anything to do with the replacement bulb itself.

About 30 minutes is correct for this job. Most of it spent looking for tools...
